The Salzkammergut stretches from the City of Salzburg eastwards along the Austrian Alpine Footlands and the Northern Limestone Alps to the peaks of the Dachstein Mountains and can hardly be surpassed in its beauty.\u00a0 This region is scenically stunning\u00a0and one of the most interesting\u00a0parts of the Alps with towering mountains (Dachstein, Totes Gebirge, Osterhorngruppe, \u2026) and great valleys. Wonderful lakes, like the emerald green Fuschlsee<\/strong> (Lake Fuschl) or the marvellous Wolfgangsee<\/strong> present themselves as spectacular vistas\u00a0in the varied landscape of Salzkammergut with its – believe it or not – 76 lakes.<\/p>\n

The charming village St. Wolfgang<\/strong> has a strong appeal, an operetta made it world famous, the \u00a0\u201eWhite Horse Inn at Lake Wolfgang\u201c.<\/p>\n

We will visit the spa and imperial town of\u00a0Bad Ischl<\/strong>, which attracted the members of the Habsburg dynasty. From 1849 to 1914 Bad Ischl was the summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph I. On our walk through the emperor\u2019s park or along the so-called \u201cPromenade\u201d you will learn a lot about Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elisabeth (Sisi).\u00a0 It\u2019s also worthwhile to visit one of the famous coffeehouses.<\/p>\n

Another highly recommended treasure is\u00a0Hallstatt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The village Hallstatt is such an unbelievably spectacular place that even the Chinese have created a copy of the ancient salt mine village in China. But only in the original village will you discover this truly unique culture with such a history all in a breath-taking mountain setting.<\/p>\n

Along the narrow shoreline embedded between steeply rising mountains and the lake Hallst\u00e4tter See, heritage buildings stand next to one another, part of the houses have been built on piles submerged in the lake.<\/p>\n

I would also like to show you magnificent Bad Aussee<\/strong>, the geographic centre of Austria. Every year, end of May, the Daffodil Festival takes place in Bad Aussee. The Ausseerland region also famous for the regional costumes, the Dirndls, will impress you<\/p>\n
